Workshop for parents, spouses, partners & close friends: Feb/March 2014, Johannesburg

This workshop is targeted for the parents, spouses, partners and close friends of someone who is in recovery from an eating disorder.

Psychologist Althea Sherry will be hosting a workshop to provide information, support and practical tips on how to help a loved one who is in recovery from an eating disorder.

Workshop on 16th November, 2013

This workshop was targeted at anorexia, bulimia or other restricting or binge-purge eating patterns, and will be held in Johannesburg on the 16th of November, 2013.

Psychologist Althea Sherry will be hosting a workshop on eating disorder recovery, in order to provide motivation and skills to people struggling with recovery from anorexia, bulimia and other restrictive or binge-purge related eating concerns.

  • Medical aid: You can reclaim a portion of the cost from most medical aids.
  • Booking: Once you have booked, payment via EFT is required within 48 hours to
    secure your booking. There are limited places available, and a minimum required
    number of participants. If the workshop is cancelled by us, you will be refunded in full.

  • Recovery basics: What does the journey to recovery look like?
  • Making space for yourself: Why boundaries are important.
  • Exercise: What's healthy and what's unhealthy when you're in recovery.

  • Ideas and tips on how to approach certain aspects of your recovery.
  • Knowledge and skills of some of the key issues behind eating disorders.
  • Motivation to keep on track with recovery.
  • Please note: This workshop is to help you in your recovery, but is not a replacement for psychotherapy or medical treatment.

Who can attend?

  • This workshop is for adults over 18 who are in recovery from anorexia, bulimia, or have other restrictive or binge-purge related eating concerns.
  • You must be over 18 years old.
  • You must be attending voluntarily.
  • You do not need to be in treatment, although it is preferable.
  • Your physical condition needs to be stable.
